The Dolomites of the Lima Valley
Trekking on the impressive Penna di Lucchio and Memoriante peaks, with snacks provided from local produce.
The interestingly-named Penna di Lucchio and Memoriante dominate this side of the valley. Not many people visit these peaks – together with other mountains in the area, the rocky summits are similar in appearance to the real Dolomites. We’ll walk quiet trails immersed in greenery, heading towards the peak of the Penna which offers a breath-taking view of the Apennines right down to the sea.
No excursion is complete without a taste of the local produce! On our way back, we’ll pay a visit to local shepherds for a substantial snack consisting of typical products. The locals are the real keepers of gastronomic heritage – participants will be treated to an authentic encounter with the food traditions of this area. An experience within an experience.
Lastly, we’ll visit a historic village, Lucchio, built on the contours of the underlying rocks and featuring a “Rocca” (castle-like fortification) which in the past overlooked the whole valley, defending Lucca from invasion from the north.
